This exciting workshop introduces students to the black and white darkroom; a world far away from digital memory cards and computers, and one within the hearts of some of the world’s best photographers, many of who produce their best art work on black and white silver photographs.
David Game College has two well-equipped darkrooms; one for film development and the other with photographic enlargers and print developing sink. This workshop runs in connection with the one-day black and white photography course, and students must bring with them, the roll of developed film (Ilford HP5) from the Black and White Film One-Day course, or other developed black and white 35mm negatives. The cost of film/print development and photo paper is included.
This is a hands-on workshop, where the teacher guides students through all the processes of black and white printing, from contact sheets to contrast selection, and burning and dodging parts of a work print to get the final finished print.
