Now that you understand the basics of how to use your digital camera, you want to get to a level where it’s just an extension of your eye. You want to work on a specific project, explore techniques, and hone your shooting skills and vision to a new level.

For this workshop, you will either have done an introductory course in digital photography, or have used your camera long enough that you don’t need help with the basic controls.

You will work on corrected (compensated) exposures, metering systems, filters, advanced flash techniques, and experiment with new shooting styles and areas of your work. The course will take you to a more competent level where you can output your work to a professional standard of print presentation. Advanced Photoshop techniques are introduced, and it’s helpful if you can bring a laptop with you to class to work from, as well as output images on your own inkjet printer in between classes.

A high level of competence and motivation is expected from you during the course, to achieve the specific aims for your work that you set out in the first week. Your tutor will work with you individually in class to work on your project, and make the best use of materials and equipment. The aim of this course will be to help you achieve a solid body of work to a professional standard, that reflects your best capability of vision, technique and creative application.
