The College has two well-equipped darkrooms, one for film processing and the other for making prints. Students will leave the day with a good working practice of black and white film photography, from exposure and processing to the final print, leaving with a contact sheet of their developed film, and two or three 8x10” black and white prints they have made themselves.
You will be taught by a professional photographer who will also show you their own portfolio of black and white prints, and give you handouts of materials and equipment needed to make your own darkroom at home, at minimum cost.
Students will need to bring a working 35mm film camera to use for the day (either compact or SLR). One roll of Ilford HP5 135.36 film will be provided, and more can be purchased on the day if needed. Please email us if you are unsure of your camera.
