THE STUDIO PHOTO SHOOT
One-day Saturday workshop (10am - 5pm)
2008: 29 March, 26 April, 24 May, 21 June, 19 July, 16 August
South London Cove Studio
£175
This is a unique chance to create your own photo shoots at a professional studio for a whole day.
Guided by a leading professional photographer, you will be introduced to all the aspects of studio production as a working business, and can take pictures during the whole day using professional flash equipment.
Once students recover the snow-blindness from being in a white infinity cove studio for the first time, they are shown all the lighting and camera equipment used in a studio. Working in pairs, each student can make several photo shoots, including portraits, still lifes, pack shots and maybe even a car shoot!
Students are shown the key technical uses of flash and tungsten lights, exposure and colour meters, and mixed ambient and controlled lighting and composition. On-hand for demonstration will be all the peripheral material used in shoots, from brollies, reflectors and soft boxes to reflector boards and lead foil, showing the additive and subtractive use of sophisticated light production.
It is essential for students to bring their own 35mm camera, with a hot shoe and be able to use manual settings on their cameras (phone for details if you are unsure of this). Digital cameras are not essential, but are preferred for instant editing. Photographic film will not be provided.
This is a very exciting day out, and a dream opportunity to take the best pictures you have ever made. Although taken at a relaxed pace, there is always plenty to do, and students are advised to bring their own lunch to eat during the day, so as not to miss any action!
Tea and coffee (essential ingredients of any studio) will be provided all day.
Book early to ensure a place on what promises to be an exhilarating day out.
Studio location and directions will be provided upon course registration.
